Triplex Cinema
Upstairs Live at the Triplex presents Collaterally Damaged, a play by Laura Zam, followed by a talk by Pauline Dongala.
Collaterally Damaged is an autobiographical, one-person play. In it, the author journeys to Eastern Europe to write a drama about her mother's Holocaust experience, hoping—foolishly?—that her small piece of art will end genocide in today's world. If collateral damage is passed down through generations, like a life-threatening genetic disease, what is the remedy? Could it realistically be the healing power of story?
After the play, Zam will be joined on stage by Pauline Dongala, who, after seeing siblings and friends killed, escaped Congo's Civil War to come to the U.S. Dongala will give a short talk titled, Drawing from the Wisdom of the Past, to Heal the Present and Seed the Future.
